Load context without a reply

Store a context-only node when you want to add facts without generating an answer.

Load context adds information to a path without asking a model to answer immediately. It creates a context-only node that later descendants can inherit.

Store context#

  1. Select the node after which the new information should apply.
  2. Turn on Load context in the composer actions.
  3. Enter the fact, constraint, excerpt, or instruction.
  4. Select Store context.

The graph adds the context point, but no assistant generation or provider charge is initiated for an answer. The stored message appears with context-only styling in the chat path.

Good uses#

  • record a decision: “The launch date is now November 14.”
  • add a constraint: “Do not recommend tools that require customer data export.”
  • preserve a source note before asking multiple questions;
  • attach a file and explain why it matters;
  • add meeting feedback without interrupting the graph with a generated response.

Context follows the path#

The entry affects descendants on the same path. It does not become global memory for every conversation or retroactively change sibling branches that diverged before it. Branch after the context node when every new alternative should share the information; branch before it when you want a scenario that excludes it.

Interactions with other send modes#

While Load context is active, Send behind and Send all are disabled because those actions request model responses. Turn Load context off to return to normal generation.

On mobile, the send button label changes to reflect the active mode, and the long-press send menu lets you switch among normal send, Send behind, and Load context.

Context versus files#

A context-only note is text in the ancestor path. A selected file is separate source material included according to file scope and provider support. Use both when needed: attach the file, then store a short context note explaining the part or purpose that future prompts should prioritize.
