Use Simple mode

Simple mode exposes guided model controls while preserving server-side safety and availability rules. You can select Auto, a provider route, or a concrete mainline model from the composer.

Turn on Simple mode#

1. Open Account settings → Models & Providers.
2. Select Simple under Usage mode.
3. Return to the workspace.

The composer now shows the model menu. Supported reasoning and Web controls appear only for selections that offer them.

Choose a route#

The model menu can contain:

• Auto — use the global router for this conversation;
• a provider route — let Convography choose a suitable model within OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, or Grok;
• a specific model — use a visible, allowed model from that provider’s submenu.

The available list is dynamic. A model can be hidden, disabled, or temporarily unavailable based on the live catalog, provider policy, plan, validation state, or current rollout.

Provider route versus exact model#

A provider route keeps you within one provider but allows a model choice that matches the task. An exact model gives greater repeatability for comparisons. Prefer the provider route for everyday use; choose a model when its behavior or capabilities are specifically relevant.

Selection persists with the conversation#

The active model choice is stored on the conversation where appropriate. Check the composer after switching conversations, because another conversation can have a different model or provider route.

Controls remain request-specific#

Reasoning effort and Web are chosen for the next message and supported route. The answer records what was actually used. If a model does not support a control, the control is absent or disabled; Convography does not simulate support in the browser.

Managed provider access#

Current plans use app-managed provider access. Provider cards in Account settings show status, but entering personal provider keys is reserved for future BYOK plans. If the app reports that model access is temporarily unavailable, refresh the Models & Providers page once and then contact support rather than attempting to add an unrequested key.
