Add files to a chat
Upload or select files from the composer and send them with a prompt.
Use the Files button in the composer to upload new material or select an existing account file for the next request.
Upload from the composer#
- Open the path where the file should be used.
- Select Files in the composer.
- Choose Upload files.
- Select one or more files from your device.
- Wait for each file to become selectable.
- Select the files you want and write the prompt.
- Send normally, behind, or as a provider comparison.
The Files button shows a count when context is selected.

Select an existing file#
Search the file panel by name, then choose a ready tile. Selected tiles remain attached to the composer context until you change the selection or the path’s file state changes.
Supported processing varies by provider and model. Common documents, PDFs, text, images, audio, video, and office formats can follow different direct-processing paths. Spreadsheet AI processing can be unavailable even when the file itself is safely stored and downloadable. Trust the picker’s current enabled state rather than a generic extension list.
Tell the model what to do#
Attaching a file does not define the task. Name the file and the expected operation:
Using “research-notes.pdf,” list the three strongest claims and quote the
supporting section for each. Separate direct evidence from your inference.
When several files are active and “the file” is ambiguous, Convography asks you to choose the intended file before continuing.
Upload failures#
An upload can fail because of a size or account-storage limit, a checksum mismatch, content-type validation, a security status, network interruption, or storage availability. Read the displayed reason. Rename alone will not make an unsupported or unsafe file valid.
Privacy check#
Only upload material you are authorized to send to the application and the selected AI provider. Remove secrets, credentials, unnecessary personal information, and privileged data before upload.
